In 2001 Mary & Roy Lewis started the Pet Stop® of Central Virginia pet fence business. In 2017 Cliff Lewis & Cathy Burrier assumed ownership. Pet Stop’s pet containment systems are custom designed, suitable for dogs or cats and sometimes referred to as an ‘underground’, ‘electric’, ‘electronic’, ‘hidden’ or ‘invisible’ type fences.
Why did we choose Pet Stop?
Our first installation was a system to keep our own pet contained and after doing several jobs to install underground pet fences for several neighbors, we decided to start our own company. After researching and studying other pet fencing companies we decided, for several reasons, to become a dealer for Pet Stop®. First of all we wanted to join forces with a proven industry leader. John Purtell, Pet Stop’s President is arguably the most accomplished executive in the pet fencing industry, building Invisible Fence® from a start-up company into the largest pet containment company in the world. Years after selling his interest in Invisible Fence®, John is with Pet Stop®. The second major appeal to Pet Stop® is their totally unique approach to training your dog using GentleSteps™, a low-stress method for teaching your pet his new boundaries. By using a slow and gradual increase in correction, your pet learns the system without all of the stress. The final reason we were sold on Pet Stop is the fact that 75% of the professional dealers were at one time with a competing manufacturer, such as; Invisible Fence, Dog Watch, PetSafe or Dog Guard. The fact that Pet Stop had attracted so many dealers away from competitors was appealing to us. We knew this was the company we wanted to work with.
Our company now has grown to include the counties of Albemarle, Amherst, Buckingham, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson and Orange. Also includes the city of Charlottesville, and the city of Culpeper.
Being a family owned & operated business, we always have time to talk to each customer, understand their problem, explain how we can work out a solution, and come up with a price to help keep your pet happy and safe.
